Extremely disappointed with our experience. It is Thanksgiving so we were asked to check in before they closed the front desk. When we arrived later in the night the key they gave us did not work. No one is at the front desk. No one answered the emergency number. My 75 year old parents are sleeping in a full bed in my brother's room because theirs is completely unaccessible.

We were disappointed with our stay here because our room with nothing like what was pictured online. It was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. The room was clean and it was a large room. But the room that we check into was on the very top level where the ceilings were tapered so you could not walk upright when you got out of the bed. I hit my head two or three times in our one night stay here. I think our stay would have been much better if we had been able to have a room that was tall enough to walk in without hitting our head. At my age, I have to go to the restroom a couple of times at night. This room would be better for younger people who do not have to get up in the middle of the night. They provide a continental breakfast in the morning which is cereal and baked items. The stay was okay, but our room was a little disappointed since the ceiling was so low.

I didn't stay at the Inn but ate at the restaurant The Spalding Steak & Ale attached to the Governor's Inn. The food was excellent and the portions were a good size. The service was very slow. They had a function that was going on although the dining area was pretty small but quaint. Very lovely inside! I would highly recommend, but consider going at a time when there aren't any functions going on.

Small but cozy place with pub like feel. Food is up scale but without upscale prices. Clean and comfortable.Try the flat bread pizza. Good portions with enough to take home.

This is definitely a hidden gem. This place is definitely well taken care of. It is amazing to be able to stay somewhere that is such a piece of history. The wrap around staircase is beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant inside with a bar. The food was delicious and hot. Service was quick and attentive. Overall an amazing value.

We have never stayed but this is one of our go tos for dinner. Food ranges from perfectly cooked steaks to sandwiches. And cocktails are great too. My favorite app is the lazy man muscles them and a side salad make a great meal.

Lovely old fashion Inn conveniently located near the Opera House. Clean large room with friendly staff. Prices are low for such a beautiful old fashion New England Inn. The restaurant is top notch because the staff is kind, professional & the food was as delicious! The cost was very reasonable. You feel as if your staying with kind family ☺.

Please do not EVER use a credit or debit card at this establishment. My wife and I had 5 fraudulent charges on separate bills! The bank fraud department agreed it was out and out fraud and reimbursed us over $400. Reported to N, the …
